HTGC Vidyalaya Online 2021-2022 program
The Vidyalaya 2021-2022 program is created keeping in mind the needs and interests of participants in the last couple of years. It’s been identified that several participants would like online education available, particularly living in far suburbs, out-of-town, and out-of-state. Also, several participants want to return to the “In-person” education at the earliest to avoid screen fatigue. As the regular schools are also opening in person, it’s felt that HTGC Vidyalaya should make the “in-person” education available. However, we will keep close attention to CDC guidelines and may decide to convert the “in-person” into “online” education based on CDC recommendations. The masks are required to be worn by all irrespective of their vaccination status during the classes (until a confirmed full recovery from the pandemic.)
The parents and participants have a choice to make between “In-person” and “Online” classes. (HTGC Vidyalaya is NOT suggesting to participate in both “in person” and “online”, please refer to the FAQs section for clarification.)
Highlights of modes of education
Online:
- The curriculum focused on providing Yoga
- Religious/spiritual learnings for children
- Stories based on human values, Hinduism, and the lives of saints
The Vidyalaya curriculum for 2021-2022 has two components.
Core curriculum: This component is generally not offered by regular schools and is only available from religious institutions and/or institutions with Indian culture or heritage affiliations. This is considered mandatory for children taking Vidyalaya classes so that some core values are learned about religious chants, epics, and stories of the Hindu religion.
Supporting curriculum: Some of this curriculum may be offered by other local institutions. The curriculum may be popular amongst the children and the community due to various factors. Since this is also available outside of our HTGC Vidyalaya, this is considered optional for children.
The other consideration that has been taken into account is age or the ability to learn. There are 3 age groups aligned with the school system (Elementary, Middle and high school.) This is expected to help simplify the curriculum selection by the students/parents. This categorization is suggestive and not strictly enforced on students. Parents are suggested to select classes based on the child’s abilities while using this categorization as guidance. Based on the child’s ability, they can be advanced or slowed down to higher or lower levels of each core class. The key consideration is to make learning not overtaxing, but an achievable challenge and fun.
Vidyalaya will be holding a parent orientation/open house during which parents can speak with teachers to determine the appropriateness of the class for their child(ren.)
*** Attendance *** A minimum of 60% attendance is required for a certificate of participation, 85% or more will receive a special mention on their certificate.

*Please use the “In-person” schedule as a guideline in choosing classes for the 4th period. Classes will be held based on the largest number of class requests. Other students will be notified and will have an opportunity to participate in the finalized classes. A minimum of 10 students is needed to run a specific class. (It’s felt that 10 students per class would encourage both children and teacher to engage well.)
